Qld: Beattie rules out new public holiday in Qld

Queensland's premier says he won't follow the lead of New South Wales and introduce
an extra public holiday.

NSW is considering creating an additional public holiday to compensate the estimated
one million workers who'll lose holidays such as Easter Tuesday or union picnic days under
new federal workplace changes.

But PETER BEATTIE said Queenslanders don't need another day off work.

In a dig at NSW .. he said the state's been on holiday for some time .. and no one
will notice another one.
