TEN:Stosur survives US Open scare

SAMANTHA STOSUR has survived a scare to make it four Australians into the second round
of the US Open tennis championships in New York so far.

STOSUR trailed by a set and a service break before recovering for a 3-6 7-6 6-1 victory
over Russian ELENA VESNINA to book a meeting with compatriot ANASTASTIA RODIONOVA, who
beat Serb BOJANA JOVANOVSKI 7-5 6-4.

And teenage Australian qualifier SALLY PEERS made a stunning grand slam debut with
a 6-0 6-1 win over Canadian ALEKSANDRA WOZNIAK, while CARSTEN BALL also won.
