Fed: Rates policy best for controlling economy: Stevens

TOOWOOMBA, April 23 AAP - Monetary policy may be a blunt instrument to control the
economy, but it delivers the best results, Reserve Bank governor Glenn Stevens says.

Addressing the Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr Stevens said he didn't
know of any "sharp" instruments that could do as well.

He said previous policies such as telling banks how much they could lend had not worked
as efficiently.
